Trip to Mt Charleston

So on Friday, I came home from work, we loaded the truck up and headed up to Mt. Charleston for a BBQ picnic. The boys were very excited as they love to be outside as much as mom and dad do and this was a "Spur of the moment thing that they didn't know about until we were leaving the house.

We found a large open field and set up the BBQ grill. As Kenneth cooked, the boys climbed on a huge tree that had fallen down. It was just as good as any equipment you would find on any playground. Kenneth had to show us a few moves of his own as he grilled. We couldn't leave him out of the action.

Now, the last piece of information that you need to know about this "spur of the moment" trip to the mountain. Kenneth forgot to bring a spatula to turn the burgers. As I sat and thought about how to turn the burgers, he started wandering around the field looking for something. He came back with a stick that was flat and wide at one end. That became our spatula.

Needless to say, we had a great time. We were planning on staying to watch the stars come out, but the boys got cold, so we packed up and hiked back to the truck, loaded the gear and headed back down the mountain. I would say it was a successful family outing and one we will probably do more often as it gets warmer. The mountain is always a few degrees cooler then the valley.
